Canadian Canoe Hire

We now offer Canoe Hire!

We use Canadian OldTown Discovery 158 Canoes with 2 adult seats with folding back rest, Ash carrying yoke and thwart, Vinyl gunwales, Comfortable carrying handles, Manufactured from extremely durable three layer polyethylene.

These canoes can carry a lot of equipment and you could easily carry 2 small children also. However, the canoe will sit lower in the water and this should be taken into consideration.

The canoes will only be for hire on calmer waters slow sections of rivers, canals, inland lochs and sheltered sea lochs. The canoe will also only be available for use on rapid grades 1 to 2. You must portage around any other rapids, this is for the safety of paddlers and the equipment. Two paddles, buoyancy vests and a Canoe Trolley will be included in the hire.

The canoe will be available for collection from the Kintore area and your vehicle should be fitted with suitable roof rails. We can provide ratchet straps etc.

Drop off and collection can be available for sections of the Don from Kemnay to Kintore  and loch of Skene for a small charge depending on availability.

Hire of the Canoe for 1 day including buoyancy aids and 2 x traditional wooden Paddles is £40 for one days hire and £35 per day for multiple days hire. We also ask for a £50 cash deposit which is fully returnable for any damages to the Canoe or Oars.

Where to go

Ideally hire of our Canoes for day trips would be for Aberdeenshire areas or nearby where the Don, Dee and some lochs are nearby like Loch of Skene.

Our nearest Canal is the Caledonian Canal,

A gentle section of river between Inverurie and Kintore is close by and is ideal for beginners. See our blog page Doddling down the Don. For a little longer trip you can start at Kemnay and finish up at Kintore golf club, this section has a few more rapids at about grade 2.

loch of Skene is nearby also and offers nice easy paddling with lots of wildlife to see.
